DIRECTOR, LAND & JOINT OPERATIONS

Michael Hawrylak assumed duties as the Director, Land and Joint Operations, Military/Civil Operations for Capstone Corporation in June 2009. As the Director, Land and Joint Operations, his responsibilities include the management, operation, performance and expansion of his business unit.

Mike's team of 130 employees provide professional and technical services supporting multiple CONUS and OCONUS contracts involving 24/7/365 Operations Center Command and Control; Strategic, Operational and Tactical Planning; Joint/Service Training and Exercise Support; Information Management Systems Engineering; Organizational Transformation; Defense Support to Civil Authorities; and Special Studies and Analysis for Army and Joint commands.

Born in Toledo, Ohio, Mr. Hawrylak received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Toledo and subsequently received a Regular Army commission serving as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army for thirty years, retiring as a Colonel in 2004. Mike has served in key organizational leadership positions on Army, Joint and Coalition staffs directing large diverse multifunctional organizations.

Mr. Hawrylak served as the Chief, Operations Plans Division, J3, USCENTCOM; the Director of Operations (G3), Eighth US Army, Korea; and as the Director of Operations (G3), Third US Army/Army Central Command. Mr. Hawrylak participated in Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM as a Battalion and Brigade Executive Officer, 82nd Airborne Division; Operation ENDURING FREEDOM as the Coalition Forces Land Component Command (CFLCC) Director of Operations, C3; and Operation IRAQI FREEDOM as the CFLCC Deputy C3.

While in the service, Mr. Hawrylak completed a Master of Science Degree in Systems Technology (Joint Command, Control and Communications), Naval Postgraduate School and a Master of Science Degree in National Security Strategy, National War College.

Upon joining the corporate community in 2004, Mr. Hawrylak initially served as a Special Operations Joint Strategic Planner, USCENTCOM. He joined Capstone Corporation in 2005 as a Program Manager directing contract service support operations in support of an Army Service Component Command's operations center, strategic planning, mobilization, training management and knowledge management functions.

Mr. Hawrylak is married to the former Jimmie Ann Palmer and has two children: Michael, a Geospatial Information System/Web Administrator and Danielle Mazur, a Dental Hygienist.
